RailTarang is an independent, privately developed utility application. It is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Indian Railways, IRCTC, NTES, CRIS, or the Government of India in any way. All train route information and timetables are adapted from public domain references for passenger convenience.
Welcome to RailTarang ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use our live train tracking, offline route navigation, and cellular network signal mapping services.
1. Information We Collect
- Location Data (Precise and Approximate): We collect your real-time GPS location while using the app and through an active foreground notification service to determine your current train segment, calculate real-time speed, and alert you before entering high-speed mobile signal zones along the railway route.
- Network Telemetry Data: We collect non-personally identifiable mobile signal strength metrics (carrier operator name e.g., Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea, BSNL, and signal quality dBm) to crowdsource and update railway route network maps.
- Account Information: If you choose to create an account, we may store your email address and display name via Google Firebase Authentication.
- App Performance & Diagnostics: We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor application stability, detect crashes, and improve overall app reliability.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To display your real-time train movement and calculate remaining distance to upcoming stations.
- To provide timely arrival alerts when your train is approaching strong cellular coverage zones.
- To continuously update and refine offline network coverage maps for train passengers.
- To diagnose application bugs, crashes, and performance bottlenecks.
3. Third-Party Services
Our application integrates with the following trusted third-party service providers:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Crashlytics, and Analytics) — Firebase Privacy Policy
- OpenStreetMap (Railway track geometry and map tile data under ODbL)
- DataMeet (Open-source Indian Railways train schedules and station coordinates under ODbL / Public Domain)
4. Data Retention and Account Deletion
You have full control over your personal data:
- In-App Deletion: Open the profile tab in the app, tap "Delete Account", and confirm to immediately delete your user profile and all associated data.
- Web-Based Request: You can request complete deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at anaxx34@gmail.com. Account deletion requests are processed within 48 hours.
5. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted directly on this page with an updated effective date.
